Enlivening the Word, by Dr. Richard F. Ward
(Presented February 25-27, 2011)
Dr. Richard Ward occupies the Fred B. Craddock Chair in Preaching and Worship at Phillips Theological Seminary in Tulsa, OK. Dr. Ward holds a Ph.D. from Northwestern University, a M.F.A. from Trinity University (in conjunction with the Dallas Theater Center), and a M.A.R from Christian Theological Seminary. He was ordained in the United Church of Christ. He brings to the study of preaching a rich background in performance studies and practices. He is particularly interested in the arts of storytelling and oral interpretation of scripture as they inform and enrich the ministry of preaching.(Click for bio.)

Being a Christian in the 21st Century, Dr. Marcus Borg

Marcus J. Borg is Canon Theologian at Trinity Episcopal Cathedral in Portland, OR. Internationally known in both academic and church circles as a Biblical and Jesus scholar, he was Hundere Chair of Religion and Culture in the Philosophy Department at Oregon State University until his retirement in 2007. He has appeared on NBC, ABC, PBS and National Geographic. He is a fellow of the Jesus Seminar and was the national chair of the Historical Jesus Section of the Society of Biblical Literature. Singing God's Praises from Around the World
with Mary Preuss and Tom Witt

Mary Preuss and Tom Witt are co-founders of "Bread for the Journey," a Minneapolis-based music ensemble which has released several recordings and songbooks. Mary has recorded for liturgical composers Ray Makeever and Marty Haugen. She is a member of the ecumenical Community of St. Martin in Minneapolis, and coordinates their worship team. Tom has been a worship leader and keyboardist for a wide variety of ecumenical church events. He has served at the Lutheran retreat center Holden Village in Washington State, and also as a worship and music consultant for the ELCA's Global Mission Unit.

Dr. Crossan is Professor Emeritus of Religious Studies at DePaul Univ. in Chicago. He received a Doctorate of Divinity from Maynooth College, Ireland, in 1959, did post-doctoral research at the Pontifical Biblical Institute in Rome from 1959 to 1961 and at the Ecole Biblique in Jerusalem from 1965 to 1967. He was co-chair of the Jesus Seminar from 1985-1996. He has written 23 books on the historical Jesus, earliest Christianity, and the historical Paul. |

Dr. Troeger is Professor of Christian Communication at Yale Divinity School, and an ordained minister in the Presbyterian and Episcopal churches. He is a professional flutist and a poet. From 1991 to 2003 he taught at Iliff School of Theology.

Reading Paul as a Jew

Associate Professor of New Testament and Christian Origins at Iliff School of Theology in Denver. Dr. Eisenbaum has an M.T.S. from Harvard Divinity School and a Ph.D. From Columbia University. One of four Jewish New Testament scholars teaching in Christian theological schools, she is the author of The Jewish Heroes of Christian History: Hebrews 11 in Literary Context, and Invitation to Romans. She is an active member of the Society of Biblical Literature, as well as the Auburn Media Speaker's Bureau. Dr. Eisenbaum has experience working with the Dead Sea Scrolls and is currently writing a book on Paul.

Ann Graham Brock (Ph.D. Harvard University, Associate Professor of New Testament and Christian Origins at Iliff School of Theology in Denver) is an author and lecturer whose special interests include New Testament and Early Christian Traditions, archaeology, and gender issues in religion. Her most recent publication is entitled Mary Magdalene, The First Apostle: The Struggle for Authority. She has also coedited five other books and had numerous encyclopedia and journal articles published in German, French, and English. She has taught at the University of Colorado at Boulder, Trinity Lutheran Seminary in Columbus, Ohio, and Harvard University. She has also appeared on the History Channel in its presentation of The Twelve Apostles, on the Discovery Channel in The Real Da Vinci Code, as well as several BBC television documentaries. |
