Worship leads all believers into the presence of the living God. It is important to set aside holy time for participating in God's ongoing creation. We gather, led by the Holy Spirit, because we are part of the body of Christ. The witness of the community of love, truth and peace empowers us to overcome the destructive powers of the world.

As Christians and disciples, we strengthen our relationship with God during our regular worship services, Bible study groups and other educational gatherings. Retreats at the church or at our retreat center give opportunities to be silent and listen to what God has to tell us. These deepen our spirituality through study and contemplative exercises.

Worship Schedule

Summer Schedule (Memorial Day, May 25, 2008, through Labor Day)

During the summer we have one worship service at 9 a.m. with an extended coffee hour afterwards. We use ELW setting eight this summer. Please join us!

Fall Schedule (September 9 through May 25)

Sunday Morning Communion Worship (8 a.m. )

The 8 a.m. service is the more traditional of our Sunday services. We worship together using the communion liturgy from Evangelical Lutheran Worship (ELW) Setting Three. We take communion at the railing, and sing mostly organ-accompanied hymns.

Sunday Morning Communion Worship (10:30 a.m.)

The later service uses more contemporary forms and liturgies. We worship together using the communion liturgy from Evangelical Lutheran Worship (ELW) setting ten. We take communion by intinction, and we sing and learn new hymns from around the world, most of the time accompanied by piano. The first Sunday of the month we enjoy a special musical service with contemporary and international-flavored music using guitars, piano and rhythm by members of our "Praise Team."

Nursery

The nursery is located across the parlor at the rear end of the sanctuary.

Messiah Mountain Summer Worship

Special Worship services are held at Messiah Mountain Retreat Center in Indian Hills the last Sunday of the month during June, July and August. This outdoor service is followd by a "Pot Luck" supper.
